HazWaste Central is open to collect and safely dispose of household hazardous waste. Go through your house and look for all of the items on your checklist below. If you find any of these products, then you have the makings of household hazardous waste. To be safe and protect the environment, read the product label instructions. When finished, dispose of the products at HazWaste Central.
Open: Most Saturdays 9 a.m. to 12 noon, mid-May through the end of October. (Closed Independence Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.)
HazWaste Central is free for residents in Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, East Haven, Fairfield, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Wallingford, West Haven, and Woodbridge.

* Wallingford Residents may bring used, clean motor oil to the Recycling Center at 157 John Street (5 gallons maximum/visit).
** Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFL's) may also be recycled at the Wallingford Home Depot Store.
DO NOT MIX OR REMOVE ITEMS FROM THEIR ORIGINAL PACKAGE.

- Ammunition
- Asbestos
- Controlled Substances
- Empty containers of any kind
- Explosive Material
- Latex Paints (crack lid, air dry and dispose of in regular garbage)
- Medicines/Medical Waste
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
- Propane Tanks - Gas Grill Size (call 203-401-2712 for disposal locations and/or instructions.)
- Radioactive Material
- Unknown substances which are suspected to be one of the above.
- Wastes from Businesses (call 203-401-2712 for disposal locations and/or instructions.)
HazWaste Central is a program of the Regional Water Authority and the South Central Regional Council of Governments.
